Facebook Login Hut

Facebook as been targted by hackers using Denial-of-service (DOS) a common form of hacking to bring down servers. The attck was aimed at bringing down the site but facebook remained open and the service of facebook was degraded for a few hours this afternoon. The attack happened Thursday 6th August today.

Twitter was also targeted in the attack and bought down their servers for over two hours. DOS attacks flood a server with data which crashes them using linked computers to attack these are called botnets and hackers create them to send spam emails and the like. The creator gains nothing from attacking popular websites and taking them offline line in fact all the attacker does is loose their botnet after the attack.
